I have not written in a little while, and have spent less time at the studio than I would like. Still, the project is moving. This week I started using blue shop towels to cover Lolong, and they are really easy to handle, which is nice. I have about five layers on the sculpture, and it is really starting to be strong and sturdy. I added his arms, too, this week, which although slightly wobbly, are very satisfying.
I also invented a slight variation on the four-leggers, introducing a four-legger bus of sorts, which will carry some little no-legged people around for the procession.
Last week’s Third Friday was again very jolly, and I really enjoyed talking to all the people, children and grownups, who stopped by. It’s interesting, so far I have not tired of the narrative, and am happy to explain Lolong over and over again. I like to think about him, and somewhat as I imagined, everyone has a slightly different take on the project.
