This week I started adding wire mesh to Lolong’s torso and tail to complete his interior structure. Once this is complete, I can start on the papier-mache phase of the project. I also attended my first ‘third Friday’ at Golden Belt studio on July 16. I had a really good time hanging out and talking to everyone who came by. A young artist named Anna made a beautiful drawing of Lolong, which now hangs on the wall of my studio. I hope I can collect more drawings of Lolong during my residency.
I also acquired a 9′ x 16′ foot canvas–I will be working on painting a portrait of Lolong hanging out in Agusan Marsh. Right now I am planning the drawing, and I hope to transfer the drawing to the large canvas sometime in the next week or two–stay tuned!
